Lower rate for electrically
heated homes
If electricity is your primary heating source (electricity must heat more than
50% of your home) you qualify for the Electric Heat Rate. Example: An add-on
heat pump is considered a primary heat source even though it has a fossil-fuel
furnace, because the heat pump will be operating about 60-70% of the time.
Remember, on the Electric Heat Rate, all usage including drying, grinding,
pumping, etc, that runs through the residential meter qualifies for the discount.
